Agora, How Do I Get Found More On Instagram?
A perfect profile is worth nothing if no one sees it. Here are our top tips for being seen on Instagram.
Use relevant hashtags
Instagram hashtags are still one of the most effective ways to get more eyes on your Instagram posts in 2022. Instagram hashtags, in essence, are a way to label and categorise your content. Instagram then uses this categorisation to serve your posts to relevant users.
In their most simple function, your hashtags are used to fuel the search results on the Instagram Explore page. Don’t forget that using ultra-popular hashtags isn’t always the best strategy for getting more engagement on your posts and stories, as they’re less likely to be seen.
There are five main types of hashtags to consider:
- Location-based hashtags, like #BryantPark or #LowerEastSide
- Branded hashtags for campaigns or events, like #Later or #LaterCon
- Industry hashtags that describe your niche, like #SocialMediaManagers or #WeddingPlanners
- Community-focused hashtags to bring your community together, like #VanLifeLiving or #IAmASweatyBetty
- Descriptive hashtags which describe the content of your actual post, like #WoodwickCandles or #SheaButterProducts
Use location tags
Location tags help you to be found by people who are interested in your service and are in your area. Exposure is great but exposure within your radius of service is critical. Adding a location tag will allow Instagram to show your business page to people looking for your service, in your area. People on Instagram are looking at locations for things to do and what’s going on in the area, or to find out more about that business. If you’re tagging a location in your content, there’s a good chance you may show up in search results and other people will see your content related to that location. There is also more chance of engagement which in turn boosts your reach.
Tag relevant and useful accounts
An @mention is accomplished by placing the @ symbol in front of somebody’s Instagram username in a comment or your caption to mention them and get their attention. When you tag someone in a social post, they are notified which not only prompts them to look at it but gives you a higher chance of engagement. Your post is then also more likely to be shown to people that follow and engage with them.
The second reason is that when an account is tagged on Instagram, the content is housed on a separate tab on their Instagram profile. The tagged content becomes a giant gallery of user-generated content about the brand, allowing you more chances to be seen by people browsing brands and locations.
Try to include what you do in your username
By including what you do in your Instagram name, you help people searching for your niche find your account.
Engage with your audience in the comments and in your inbox
The higher the engagement a post receives, the higher the likelihood that Instagram will boost it to the top of somebody’s feed. But it is more than that. If you have a history of making posts with high engagement, Instagram will give all of your posts a nudge, with the expectation that your new posts will also lead to quality engagement.
To be seen on Instagram, be consistent
I know, you’ve heard this before but consistency is more than just posting every day. Consistency is about creating consistently attractive and engaging posts. It is about posting consistently at OPTIMAL times for the social network you are posting on and it’s about getting on your stories often.
