Robert Iger, known fondly as Bob, has led the Walt Disney Company through some of the most significant changes and challenges in the company’s history. In a world with rapidly changing technology and a far larger audience than ever before, the strategy was to acquire or die.
Bob’s story didn’t start at Walt Disney, though. Long before Bob was making multi-billion dollar acquisition offers he began work at the ABC news station. Ride Of A Lifetime is Bob’s biography. It is meant to be a tale of his story from a humble showrunner to CEO of the world’s largest entertainment brand with a focus on the lessons he has learned along the way. While Bob did share some lessons, many seemed generic and few were revolutionary; none that would make you believe this man was any more extraordinary than any other CEO. This book was, however, a light, feel-good read with quirky details about Bob’s work and occasionally personal life.
My Favourite Quote From The Ride Of A Lifetime
“Ask the questions you need to ask, admit without apology what you don’t understand, and do the work to learn what you need to learn as quickly as you can.” – Robert Iger
